Traditions

The Star Plains is a stretch of land that holds a ruin where Fadedclan communes with Starclan, it is located east of camp and is about a quarter of a days travel if a decent pace is kept. The Ruins were found by Ashfoot, the first medicine cat, while looking for herbs to heal an injured kit who later grew up to be Ivythroat, Ashfoot's apprentice.

The cats of Fadedclan believe that a cat cannnot enter starclan without receiving their full name, so if a kit or an apprentice passes away the leader will carry out what is called a Spirit Ceremony. Before their vigil the leader will go over a naming ceremony, but will give the kit or apprentice the suffix 'spirit' to signify when they died. This allows the cats of Fadedclan to rest knowing that the young cat who passed away has a place in starclan.

Some cats with this name in starclan are:

Treespirit (Fadedstar and Rosebush's first son who died as a kit)

Frostspirit (the first apprentice that was killed by a rogue)

Cottenspirit (an apprentice who died days before they were to become a warrior)

The only living cat who was known to have the suffix was Wishspirit, the sister of Treespirit who had an extreme connection with death, constanly being visited by her deceased brother.

The Proving lake is a lake in the southern area of their territory, there is a land bridge leading up to the island and the island is made up of a few small hills, quite a few dead trees and a single living pine tree called the Gathering Tree. This is where the Proving and the Leader's Proving takes place.

The Proving is a very important part of Fadedclan's heritage, Kits and Apprentices need to prove themselves to Starclan that they are worthy of moving up a rank. The Proving takes place every moon on the night of the full moon for any kit, apprentice, or a cat who is new to the clan. The Whole clan, except for a single queen and underaged kits, attends this ceremony.
KITS - When a kit reaches the age of 6 moons the day of or in the weeks before the proving they are able to enter the proving to become an apprentice. Some kits are known to train in camp with other apprentices and ask for advice on how to finish their proving. The 6 moon old kits will have to run the whole perimeter of the island to complete it. For the kit who reaches the Gathering Tree first they will be allowed to choose who they want as their mentor and will be highly respected by their peers, they are also given a special nest in the very centre of the den with the other apprentices who finished first in their proving's.
APPRENTICES - When an apprentice reaches the age of 12 moons the day of or in the weeks before the proving they are able to enter the proving to become a warrior. Many apprentices are known to train and ask for advice from their parents and/or mentor on how to finish their proving. The 12 moon old apprentices will not only have to run the whole perimeter but also climb every tree and run over each hill before returning to the Gathering Tree. For the apprentice who gets to the Gathering Tree first, they will be able to choose their warrior name, be highly respected by the whole clan and will be given a special nest at the very centre of the den with the deputy and the other warriors who finished first in their proving's.

The Leader's Proving is something to be celebrated but also something cats do not look forward to hearing it will be taking place. The Leader's Proving is a crowning ceremony that takes place the night/next night after the previous leader lost their last life. The whole clan, except for a single queen and all the kits (even if they are 6 moons old), attends this ceremony. The deputy will stand in the centre of the island and the Medicine Cat will speak these words:
"[Dep. Name] has been chosen to be the next leader of Fadedclan by [Name]star, and sadly [Name]star has joined the ranks of Starclan. If you wish to challenge [Dep. Name] for the spot as leader, please step forward to receive Starclan's judgement."
If a cat steps forward to challenge the deputy, the previous leader will descend from the Gathering Tree and speak either one of these two fraises:
"[Name], you are not fit to be the leader of Fadedclan and will remain a warrior unless appointed deputy by [Dep. Name]" When this fraise is spoken, usually the cat who stepped forward will not be chosen as deputy and will remain a warrior.
"[Name], I am sorry for not noticing your potential before. You will replace me as the leader of Fadedclan. [Dep. Name], I am sorry but you will not receive your nine lives tonight." When this fraise is spoken the Deputy and the challenger will swap places and the process will begin again, usually this will only happen once per Leader's Proving.
If no cat steps forward/after one of the previous two events have taken place the medicine cat will speak these final words:
"[Dep. Name], you have been chosen by Starclan and [Name]star to take his/her/their place as the leader of Fadedclan. Tonight you will hunt a single piece of prey to eat before you make your journey to the Star Plains to receive your nine lives"
